-   ABOUT US  -

In 1971, my husband and I moved from Austin, Texas to a ranch in West Texas to work for the historian and writer Fred Gipson, known for writing the epic tale "Old Yeller".   My husband worked on the ranch and I answered fan mail and cooked. Little did we know how that year would shape our lives and souls.  We had a cabin on the banks of the Llano River.  That year Fred became my mentor in many things. He taught me how to fish, how to fry catfish, how to grow a garden, how to drive a jeep and so many other things. Mostly, he taught me the love of plants, especially herbs.  One morning he asked me to go find some prickly pear and bring it back to the house. I could not imagine what he wanted with the prickly pear. He showed me how to scrape and burn the prickly spines and then pulverize the plant into a mucilaginous poultice. He wrapped it in a cloth and put it on his eye which had developed a sty. He kept it on his eye most of the day and when he went to bed that night. The next day his eye was normal. I was hooked.
In 1975, we moved to a farm in the Ozarks of SW Missouri. We bought a run down farm with a clear water spring. After living in West Texas, we knew we could never go back to city living.  I continued learning what I could about the healing properties of herbs and made my first salve in 1977 with wild burdock and a neighbor's comfrey.   We harvested wax from our own bee hives.  This formula evolved over the next 40 years and today with the addition of essential oils and CBD, I feel like it is finally a finished product.

We lost Fred in 1973 and it was a huge loss. There has never been a time during my

harvesting, cooking, or pouring that I haven't thought of him and felt him over my shoulder giving me what he called "constructive criticism"

I hope you will try Blue Heron Springs herbal salve. We make it with CBD, as well as the original way...without CBD. In addition to our formula for pain, we also make a decongestant salve which is a comforting chest and throat rub for colds. We also do custom salves.

These salves are for topical use only and have not been approved by the FDA.

If you are interested in selling this product, please contact me for details. I am also available for small groups who are interested in learning more about herbs.
